Tesla is moving to legally protect its vision for autonomous mass transit. Federal regulators have granted a design patent covering the exterior body of Tesla’s distinctive Robovan concept, securing the intellectual property for the autonomous high-capacity vehicle.

Tesla received U.S. Design Patent No. US D1138869 S on August 4. Tesla originally filed this patent back in October 2024, around the time it first showed off its Robovan concept to the public. The filing credits Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen and his design team, including Julien Bilodeau, Ian Kettle, and Joseph Robinson, with shaping the futuristic capsule.

Patent illustrations reveal several distinct styling choices that define Tesla’s autonomous people-mover. The exterior features an uninterrupted architecture that leans more toward a moving lounge or futuristic tram than a traditional commercial van.

Influenced heavily by Art Deco streamliner trains and buses, the body features rounded corners, sweeping horizontal accent lines, and fully enclosed wheel wells. By tucking the wheels and undercarriage deep inside the lower body panels, the vehicle creates a floating hovercraft silhouette above the road surface.

The profile is completely symmetrical and faceless. There is no conventional grille, hood, side mirrors, or driver cockpit. A dark, continuous glass beltway wraps around the upper cabin, using curved termination points to break up the vehicle’s mass. Near-vertical front and rear end caps maximize usable interior space for both people and cargo.

Universal City Studios was awarded a patent for a potential new water ride system with self-propelled vehicles.

The patent abstract points out that typical rides are guided by an assembly under the vehicle attached to equipment like wheels, chains, and tracks.

“However, the equipment can present a hazard or pinch points to the passenger of the ride, in particular, when the passenger embarks and disembarks the ride,” the patent states. The patent goes on to describe “fluid propulsion techniques that can eliminate or reduce many of the hazards associated with propulsion of amusement park rides.”

With this system, an apparatus under each vehicle would use the flow of fluids to propel the vehicle forward.

The vehicle could be moving through a trough full of a “first fluid” — water that would be visible to guests like on Fyre Drill at Epic Universe (pictured above). But the patent could also apply to wheeled vehicle moving across a surface.

Arika Kundu, a seventh-grade student at Minnetonka Middle School East in Shorewood, Minnesota, developed the method. Her project is called 'LIGNEX - A novel biosorption based approach that uses agricultural waste material to eliminate pesticide residues from fresh produce'.

Instead of using expensive materials, she looked at agricultural waste. Peanut shells are usually discarded after the nuts are processed. She designed a method that converts these shells into a material capable of trapping pesticide residues from the surface of fresh produce.

Her project uses a scientific process known as biosorption. Because peanut shells are an agricultural waste product, her idea also gives a second use to material that would otherwise be thrown away.

The project has also earned her a place among the 10 finalists in the 2026 3M Young Scientist Challenge. The national competition recognises middle school students aged 11 to 14 who develop science-based solutions for real-world problems.

As a finalist, Arika will now work with a 3M scientist over the summer before competing in the final round in October, where she will have the chance to win the $25,000 grand prize and the title 'America's Top Young Scientist'.

Bosideng filed its first international trademark application in 1997, seeking protection across 50 export markets – a registration that remains active and fully protected almost 30 years later.

The Madrid System has delivered concrete, measurable benefits for Bosideng's global trademark management:

▪️Cost efficiency. For a group managing multiple brands across numerous product categories, cost savings are substantial compared to separate national filings.

▪️Streamlined process. Bosideng can file a single application in Chinese directly with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), eliminating the need for separate translations, notarizations, and local legal counsel in every target country.

▪️Centralized management. The Madrid System enables Bosideng to monitor the status and renewal deadlines of every international trademark registration from a single portal, ensuring no deadline is missed.

▪️Flexible expansion. Bosideng can extend protection to new markets at any time through the Madrid System's subsequent designation procedure — a flexibility that perfectly matches the pace of an expanding global fashion brand.

Taking Chinese down clothing brand to the global fashion stage

Through five decades of technological advancement, Bosideng has evolved from a small enterprise in southern China into a globally recognized brand, warming winters across 72 countries. Translating technical expertise into tangible experiences — stable warmth, lightweight comfort, and ergonomic fit — the brand empowers people to engage with life freely and confidently, whether navigating urban environments or exploring the great outdoors.

Committed to becoming a pioneering force in the global fashion functional tech apparel sector, Bosideng has made its mark at all four major international fashion weeks — New York, Milan, London, and Paris — elevating the image of Chinese down jackets on the world stage.

16-year-olds Vivaan Chhawchharia, Ariana Agarwal, and Avyana Mehta, used powdered tamarind seed as the base for an all-natural microplastic clumping agent. After a short agitation period, the clumped microplastic-tamarind mass can be removed with nothing more than a magnet.

In recognition of their brilliant invention, the 3 whiz kids were named Asia Winners of The Earth Prize 2026, which includes $12,5000 for each of them to develop their creation, called “Plas-Stick.”

Designed for use in shared water containers, the biodegradable powder binds invisible plastic particles into visible clumps that can then be easily removed with a handheld magnet, offering a simple and low-cost alternative to complex filtration systems.

The idea was sparked by the team’s studies in environmental science and a visit to a rural community, where they observed how drinking water is often stored in shared containers without access to advanced filtration systems.
