This is a very concise read as to the difference between a mediator and lawyer. While the author is in the US and some of the terminology in Canada is slightly different, it is an excellent read.
Let me know if you have any questions.
The mediator is non-coercive. Participating in mediation is voluntary โ it takes two to tango. If one person cannot or will not participate for any reason, there is no mediation โ and therefore, no role for the mediator.
