If you just purchased a previously owned property, ensure the property has all the requie permits. Alot of buyers missed this step and ended up facing non-compliance and permit related issues with the City. Ensure all your accessory structures on your property are permitted. This will include any exterior decks, covered structures, sheds, hot tubs, house additions or detached garages etc. If these items are constructed without approved City of Edmonton permits, you will have issues selling your property later.

Edmonton basement development requires both the City of Edmonton Development and Building Permits. Rather you are developing a non-secondary or secondary suite in the basement, both permits must be approved prior to any construction work. Depending the type of basement you are developing, normally, the City of Edmonton will require about 4-8 weeks to review and approve/disapprove the permits.
