Express Entry August 2026 Draws: French CRS Drops to 382

Canada held three important Express Entry invitation rounds from August 17 to August 19, 2026. Together, the rounds issued 6,442 invitations to apply across the Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class and French-language proficiency category.

The largest round was the August 19 French-language proficiency draw, which invited 5,000 candidates with a CRS cut-off of 382. The same week also included a Canadian Experience Class round at CRS 523 and a Provincial Nominee Program round at CRS 760.

For applicants in Edmonton and across Alberta, the message is practical: a strong Express Entry strategy in 2026 is not just about one CRS score. It is about matching the right draw type, keeping documents current, reviewing French eligibility where realistic, and comparing federal options with Alberta pathways.

🚨 POLICY UPDATE | IRCC ISSUES NEW INSTRUCTIONS FOR TEMPORARY PUBLIC POLICY APPLICANTS 🚨

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued new instructions that affect applicants seeking permanent residence under temporary public policies.

Effective July 22, 2026, immigration officers cannot grant Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) exemptions to waive eligibility requirements established by a temporary public policy.

Key Changes

❌ H&C exemptions cannot be used to overcome requirements set out in temporary public policies.

✅ Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements of the temporary public policy to qualify for permanent residence.

📌 If an application is refused because the requirements are not met, applicants may need to submit a separate permanent residence application requesting consideration on Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds, where applicable.

Important to Know

This policy applies only to permanent residence applications submitted under temporary public policies.

For other eligible in-Canada permanent residence applications, immigration officers may still consider Humanitarian and Compassionate requests where the law allows.

If you're applying for permanent residence under a temporary public policy and are unsure how these changes affect your case, our experienced team can help you understand your options.
