The difference between an RCIC and an RCIC-IRB β€” and why it matters for your case.

If you searched "immigration consultant Edmonton" this week, you found a list. If you read closely, you saw two different credentials on different profiles: RCIC and RCIC-IRB.

The first is the standard regulated immigration consultant licence in Canada. The second is the same licence plus authorization to represent clients before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) β€” the Board that hears refugee claims, removal order appeals, sponsorship appeals, and admissibility hearings.

Most consultants in Edmonton do not hold IRB authorization. Imprint Immigration Services does.

Shirani Daniel is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant licensed by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and authorized to represent clients at the IRB. We take refugee claims, refused application appeals, and admissibility hearings as core work β€” not as referrals to outside firms.

If your case has any chance of going to a hearing, the consultant who starts the file should be the one who can finish it.
