🌿 Cultural Appreciation vs. Cultural Appropriation 
 Understanding the difference between appreciating and appropriating Indigenous cultures allows one to more deeply engage with reconciliation. 
 
📣 As scholar Niigaan Sinclair explains (via ReconciliACTION YEG): 
 
“Cultural appropriation is theft based on power and privilege. Cultural appreciation is engagement based on responsibility and ethics.” 
 
 Appreciation, when done with respect and intention, can be a meaningful step toward reconciliation.
