Psalms 127:3:
"Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward" (NKJV).

Today's church service focused on the importance of faithfulness. This refers to committing to good work in both the high and low seasons of that work, even at personal cost.

Today, Maple City Baptist Church in Chatham, ON, honoured the lead pastor and his wife, Rick-Kim Dressler, for 25 years of faithful service to their people.

I figured I already knew what kind of general impact their kindness and generosity would've had on their flock, but through the message, personal testimonies and many shed tears, I learned about some of their specific acts of selfless sacrifice.

I've only been attending for two years, but even in that short time, Rick and Kim have had a major positive impact on me. I can honestly say I'm much better for having them in my life. Thank God!

Pastor Dan said (link below), based on 1 Corinthians 4:2 (paraphrasing): "The essential and defining quality required of a steward of God is faithfulness. Qualities like empathy, keeping things organized, emotional intelligence, and decisiveness, while useful, aren't actually required."

Those things are fruits, or results of faithfulness (John Piper). The commitment and the sweat on one's brow comes first. Take gardening, motherhood, self-improvement... the fruits of such labours appear only after one's put in a ton of work.

Peace is like that. When everyone's committed and remains faithful to the cause of making lasting peace that endures for lifetimes, such fruit is so sweet that the resulting benefits are felt not just by the original parties, but by everyone surrounding them.

Thanks, Rick and Kim, for demonstrating to so many people in so many ways what it means to stay the course and remain faithful. It's truly been a privilege to witness.

One of the most, if not the single most common dispute type I've ever seen in both church and workplace environments is that of generational friction.

Essentially, Baby Boomers, Gen X and the first half of the Millennial generation most often clash with the second half of the Millennials, Gen Z, and the growing Gen Alpha, over various topics, ranging from clothing and music choices, to vacation time conflict, to disagreements surrounding bigger life decisions e.g. marriage and housing.
Not to say that this is the only kind of generational disputing that goes on; peers of all ages butt heads every day, but this is the most common.

These disputes are certainly understandable, but it's a shame that biblical wisdom is often lost on us in these moments.

Generational experience should not be underestimated and is endorsed many times in God's Word. The importance of passing wisdom on over time is clear: Deuteronomy 6:7: "You shall teach (God's commands) diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up" (NKJV). Psalm 145:4: "One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts" (NKJV). This is dealt with in even more detail in Proverbs 3 and 4.

On the other hand, there is space for correction from any one of us to another, despite any age difference. Paul reminds Timothy, a young man at the time, to demonstrate godly professionalism no matter how he might be perceived by the elderly around him: 1 Timothy 4:12: "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (NKJV). There may come a time when someone who is older than we are is wrong about something and needs correcting. No shame, it happens! But in that moment, the number itself is not important, or at least, it is not the most important thing. What is important is that, whatever our age, we receive correction with humility. It doesn't get more blunt than this: Proverbs 12:1: "Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid" (NKJV). πŸ˜…

Differences in perspective are natural the further apart the generations are, but peace can be achieved with grace, a humble heart which is willing to learn and grow, and mutual understanding.

Family and friends, I'm honoured to be a part of the Jubilee Chorus of 2026. We are performing this Sunday, May 3, at 7 PM, at St. Paul's Congregational (Discover Life). Admission is free! Donations to Neighbourlink.

I would like to personally thank Elisabeth Enzlin for committing to teaching us how to sing with excellence. My voice has already reached new heights and I wouldn't be able to perform at all if I was not currently benefiting from her expert guidance. ❀️

I hope our work is a blessing to all who listen to it.

It was my distinct pleasure to attend Right to Life Kent's Annual Banquet for the first time! Speaker Abby Johnson from Texas shared her powerful testimony of going from a Planned Parenthood director to a radically saved-by-Christ, firmly pro-life advocate. I had the wonderful opportunity to speak briefly with her after her speech.

Keep up the great work, Abby, and thanks for coming to Canada.

To all the pro-life supporters out there, you are fighting a good fight. Hallelujah and Amen!

The recent tragedy that unfolded in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. has been on my mind.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, as well as Maya and her family. The child is currently fighting for her life in the hospital.

I'm also thinking about and praying for the shooter's family. That is a very tough position to be in, as a mother, father, sibling, or other relative.

The world cries out for God, without wanting to admit that it is, in fact, God, who is the provider of peace and the architect of grace.

Matthew 11:28:
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (NKJV).

Numbers 6:24-26:
"The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace" (NKJV).

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my family, friends, coworkers and other acquaintances.

Let's remember and celebrate that in His great mercy and love for humanity, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be born in Bethlehem and to live a perfect, sinless life among mankind so that His sacrifice on the cross would be the satisfactory atonement for all the sins of those who repent and ask for forgiveness.

Luke 2:14:

John 15:13:

"In Flander's Fields, the poppies blow."

Let's remember, with gratitude, the men and women who sacrificed everything they had, up to and often including their lives, so that Canada could thrive.

Thanks to their bravery, by God's grace, Canada has enjoyed 150 years of peace.

With that said, this peace must be protected; we must not be lulled into complacency, which is not a sign of true peace.

On this Remembrance Day, be thankful for the beauty of Canada and commit to defending her honour. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Did you know that "Logos" is the Greek word for logic?

The concepts of Logos, Ethos and Pathos were first commented on in the treatise called "Rhetoric" by Aristotle. Teaching the "art of persuasion," Aristotle identifies Logos as an appeal to a person's sense of reason, Pathos to a person's emotion, and Ethos to a person's credibility to speak on an issue. His point is that all three together form a cohesive and well-balanced argument.

These concepts overlap in day-to-day life, but Logos often flies out the window in the midst of a heated dispute. Conflict often gives rise to deep-seated emotion, and when that happens, we rarely take the time to wait and investigate before making a decision.

Let's take the time to talk, wait and pray.

Isaiah 1:17-18 NKJV
"Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow. 'Come now, and let us reason together,' says the LORD, 'Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.'"
