OTD Ticket Defenders Legal Services is seeking a licensed paralegal litigator to join our Cambridge team.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and have a valid driver's licence with reliable transportation. The ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, strong written and verbal skills, and is computer proficient.
Experience:
Experience with Provincial Offences/Highway Traffic Act matters is required. Previous experience as a paralegal is required. Experience as a litigator/in court is an asset.
Responsibilities:
General job duties include (but are not limited to) attendance at court for general appearances, plea dates, and to conduct trials; managing court lists (scheduling); preparation for court including client meetings, case law research, witness interviews; resolution discussions with Crown/Prosecutors in person and by phone; occasional client intakes in person and by phone; reviewing and drafting legal documents; obtaining instructions from clients; reporting court results to clients (orally and in writing); communication with other paralegal firms & agents

This is a full-time, in-person position (hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday) in Cambridge.
