Bill C-12 is now law. Is your asylum claim at risk?
On March 26, 2026, Canada's immigration rules changed — and if you haven't filed your asylum claim yet, your options may already be narrowing.
Here's what you need to know:
📌 One-Year Rule — If more than a year has passed since you entered Canada (after June 24, 2020), your claim may no longer be referred to the Immigration and Refugee Board.
📌 14-Day Rule — If you crossed the Canada-U.S. border irregularly and didn't file within 14 days, your claim could be blocked from a full hearing.
📌 You still have options. A Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) or other pathways may still protect you — but you need to act now.
We've helped hundreds of families navigate complex immigration challenges. Don't face this alone.
