We wanted to share a few words of wisdom from Wayne himself about his journey is Real Estate:
"Real estate is, and always will be, a people business. Long before I moved into the industry, my decades-long career in broadcasting taught me the power of listening to – of “hearing” people's stories. I realized I was naturally using the "FORM" method to connect with people before I even knew it had a name!
Over the last decade, real estate has proven to me that while everyone is a potential client, my interest in them had to be sincere. It’s about building genuine rapport, not just hunting for the next deal. Because of that philosophy, some of my clients have become good friends.
To those just joining the industry, here is my best advice:
Don’t be a "secret agent": Say hi to everyone you meet and try to engage them in conversation. Let them know what you do, but don’t be ‘pushy’ with them.
Find common ground: Look for shared interests or experiences to establish genuine rapport. Be sincere.
Expand your boundaries: Step out of your comfort zone on a daily basis until it becomes a habit. The more you do so, the more your comfort zone expands and the more confident you’ll become. And then you’ll have a new comfort zone to move past.
Treat it like a business: Know your numbers, be organized, live by your calendar, deliver more than expected, and be a lifelong learner.
The ultimate truth: Be passionate, persistent and consistent. Remember, you are rarely short on leads - you are usually short on follow-up.
Most importantly? Have fun! Here’s to the next 10 years!"
