Enduring Power of Attorney in Alberta: Explained

Have you planned for the unexpected?
Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Illness, injury, or age-related changes can make it difficult — or even impossible — to manage your own financial decisions.

That’s where an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) comes in. In Alberta, this legal document allows someone you trust to step in and manage your affairs if you lose capacity.
With an EPA in place, you can:
✔ Stay in control by choosing who makes decisions for you
✔ Avoid costly and time-consuming court applications
✔ Protect your family from disputes
✔ Safeguard your business and property

At Libra Law, our Wills & Estates team helps Albertans create clear, secure Enduring Powers of Attorney as part of a complete estate and incapacity plan https://libra-law.ca/service/wills-and-estates

Learn what to include, when it takes effect, and who to appoint in our plain-language guide:

Why choose an Immigration Consultant?

You are not required to hire an immigration consultant or a lawyer to have your immigration application submitted. However, hiring a professional to provide guidance on eligibility requirements and to handle your application may increase your chances of success and help you avoid errors that may be difficult, or even impossible, to correct in the future. It’s much easier to do it right the first time.

To be authorized to practice Immigration Law in Canada, immigration consultants must be members in good standing of the Immigration Consultants Regulatory Council of Canada (ICCRC). To become ICCRC members, consultants have to complete a designated Immigration Law program, go through a background check, and pass the entry to practice exam. Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants are also required to complete a substantial number of hours of professional training each year to ensure they are up-to-date on Immigration Laws and Regulations so they are able to provide accurate and informed immigration advice to their clients.

This ICCRC consumer awareness video provides information on who can represent immigrants and visitors seeking entry to Canada.
