What a fabulous idea that I hope catches on everywhere! If we seize the moment, the pandemic can offer a fresh start to reduce air pollution. We can improve ourselves and our little blue planet at the same time.

Here's an easy way to make yourself more visible to drivers day and, especially, night. White running shoes! However, if your runners now look as dirty as those in the attached photo, you can do what I just did. You cut a Mr. Clean magic eraser into small pieces (useful for odd jobs) and use one cube to wash the white leather to look gleaming white again!

This video may seem funny, but it's a dangerous way to learn to drive. Everyone needs a professional driving instructor.

TRIBUTE TUESDAY - GREGORY JAMES GOULDING

March 6, 1994 ~ October 18, 2015

Gregory James Goulding was born in Halifax on March 6th, 1994. He was the only son of Larry and Marion and brother to Tracy and Sara.

Gregory grew up in Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia. He was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy whose mischievous smile could light up a room. Tormenting his sisters was high on his list of favourite things when he was young.

In his earlier years, Gregory spent his summers and every weekend he could at his grandparents’ home. Those visits formed much of the person he grew up to be. He loved to bike all over town with his sisters, explore various trails and paths…the beginning of his “let’s go on an adventure”. Gregory would run or bike to the store and bring back a treat for his Nan. He idolized his grandfather and nothing tasted better than two handfuls of “Grampie’s cookies”.

Gregory graduated from Lockview High School in June 2012, having driven to school each day in his 1994 Jeep which he restored and worked on daily. He was mechanically inclined, changing his jeep from automatic to standard transmission by himself, after being told that would be impossible to do. It was on that jeep that he first learned to weld and after high school he attended NSCC Akerley Campus and graduated in the welding program in 2014. He was on his way to a bright and successful future; the more challenging the welding job the happier he was.

Gregory had an amazing group of lifelong friends, most of these friendships began in pre-school and primary school.
On October 18, 2015, Gregory died as a backseat passenger in his own car, one of those childhood friends was the driver, and speed and alcohol were a factor. His girlfriend, Miranda was seriously injured, another young lady also died, and the driver walked away. The collision happened about 3 miles from home. Our lives are forever changed, our hearts are broken.

Gregory’s quiet nature was often mistaken as being very shy…it wasn’t until during and after his Celebration of Life that we realized how many people our son/brother knew and sought out for various reasons. He was well known, well respected and loved. Gregory, you are in our hearts and thoughts, always and forever, love Mom, Dad, Tracy and Sara.

This is important: MAKE IT EASY FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL TO FIND YOUR HOUSE. Is your house number clearly visible from the street, day and night? PLEASE go outside and make sure! In an emergency, when seconds can count, don't rely on the GPS of the ambulance, police, fire truck etc.

I've previously posted that 911 can't reliably trace a call made from a cel phone. Has your mail or Amazon delivery ever gone to the wrong house? Mine has. Or has your Uber driver arrived in front of your neighbor's house instead of your house? GPS isn't perfect.

MAKE IT EASY FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL to ensure they've arrived at the correct house. Aesthetics are of minimal importance. I see so many houses with metal house numbers centered over the garage, nowhere near a light, that don't stand out in the daytime, let alone the nighttime. Use large numbers that contrast with the background color, put the house number under a light that is kept on at night, etc. This is the most important spring renovation you can make!

As I've said many times, probably the only way to keep one's hands off a phone is to stow it out of reach in the trunk. This must be done to avoid risking one's life or the lives of others!

Warning motorists about the dangers of texting while driving hasn’t overcome their urges to use smartphones in the car. Consumer Reports details the new research from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

A study found that walking backward may improve short-term memory. It’s not clear why this is the case, but people may associate reverse motion with a return to the past, which may trigger a memory response. More research is needed to determine...

This article warns that more than 1/4 of hip fractures happen to men. Proportionately, more men than women die as a result of a hip fracture, and men are more likely than women to require care in a long-term facility afterwards. So, men should be proactive and discuss Osteoporosis with their physicians, just as should all women.

Roger Wilkins didn’t know men could suffer from osteoporosis until he was diagnosed.
