Express Entry: Only 440 CRS needed; 3,515 ITAs issued

Canada's Express Entry cut-off scores continue to plummet, as a CRS of only 440 was needed to secure an ITA in May 28th draw.

Express Entry round issued 3,515 invitations to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 440 or higher.

Express Entry draw cut-offs continue to plummet as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invites a larger number of CEC-specific candidates. Today’s draw was the largest CEC-specific Express Entry draw since May 1st, and the second-largest since Canada introduced special coronavirus measures in the middle of March.

The May 28 draw continued a trend that has seen the cut-off CRS score decrease in each of the last six CEC draws held since the last all-program draw on March 4, 2020. This trend may be explained in part by the relatively regular interval and frequency between draws that IRCC has maintained during the last two months.

CRS minimum score drops to 470 in February 19 Express Entry draw

Express Entry candidates in the largest draw ever held by the Government of Canada on February 19.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in this latest invitation round was 470, a decrease of 2 points over the previous draw held February 5.

The Express Entry system manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s main skilled labour immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates are entered into the Express Entry pool and are ranked based on a CRS score that considers factors such as age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French.

A job offer is not required in order to be eligible for an Express Entry Invitation to Apply (ITA), though additional CRS points are awarded if a candidate has one.

A set number of the highest-ranked candidates are issued an ITA for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool. These invitation rounds typically take place every two weeks and the vast majority involve candidates from all three Express Entry-managed categories.

The Government of Canada has a processing standard of six months for permanent residence applications filed through the Express Entry system.

Alberta invites Express Entry candidates with CRS scores of 352 and above to apply for provincial nomination

354 Express Entry candidates invited in two draws held July 31 and August 7

The Province of Alberta invited another 354 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in two draws held July 31 and August 7.

On July 31, Alberta issued 319 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to select Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 400 and above.

The first draw in August was significantly smaller, with 35 NOIs sent out to Candidates with CRS scores as low as 352 on August 7.

The NOI’s were issued through the Alberta Express Entry Stream, which allows the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

Since the first Alberta Express Entry Stream Selection, which took place just over a year ago, the AINP has held 27 draws. A grand total of 5,382 NOIs have been sent to foreign nationals wanting to settle in Alberta

3,600 Express Entry candidates invited to apply for permanent residence in largest draw since January

CRS cut-off score drops two points to 460 in July 10 draw

A new Express Entry draw has issued 3,600 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence — the most invitations issued in a single draw since January 23.

The cut-off score in the July 10 draw was 460, a decrease of two points over the minimum score of 462 in the previous Express Entry draw held June 26.

The larger draw size reflects the higher admissions targets that have been set for both 2019 and 2020 for the three Federal High Skilled immigration programs that are managed by the Express Entry system. These programs are the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry also manages a portion of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, which also has higher admissions targets for 2019 and 2020.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are ranked based on scores awarded for factors that include age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are issued an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence, or ITA.

Express Entry candidates invited in today’s draw have 60 days to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has a processing standard of six months for Express Entry applications.

IRCC has now issued 45,400 ITAs this year. This puts the department just over the half-way mark to surpassing the Express Entry record 89,800 ITAs that were issued in 2018.
