Sometimes, you are determined to βhave your day in court,β hoping that the process will provide some kind of emotional closure; a long-awaited apology, an explanation, or an admission of the wrong your spouse did to you.
Unfortunately, the court may not give you that.
I know that can be difficult to hear.
Yes, they cheated.
Yes, they lied.
Yes, they hurt you.
But waiting for them to acknowledge what they didβor hoping that prolonged litigation will somehow make them understand the pain they causedβcan be a recipe for disappointment.
At some point, the focus has to shift from what happened to what comes next.
Your family lawyer can help you work towards a resolution that allows you to move forward. That might mean negotiation. It might mean mediation. And sometimes, it may mean litigation.
But remember: there is life after divorce.
The goal isnβt always to win the past. Sometimes, itβs to protect your future.
