Shipping your belongings to Canada too early can lead to customs delays and storage fees.

Many people spend months preparing their work permit, business immigration plan or relocation strategy, then realise too late that their household goods also need to be timed properly.

Receiving a positive LMIA does not mean an employer’s responsibilities are finished. Service Canada can inspect employers to confirm that the wages, job duties, working conditions and records still match what was approved.

The fastest way for an American to move to Canada may be through the job you already have.

Many Americans assume they need to start over with a brand-new Canadian employer, but that is not always true.

If your current company has a Canadian entity, an intercompany transfer may be one of the fastest options. If you have a Canadian job offer, a work permit can often become the foundation for permanent residence over time.
