This is the exact correct position for all defence lawyers to have. If your lawyer doesn't actually believe in the presumption of innocence, then you need to get a new lawyer.

Seems strange to me that on a platform that news is banned on, I still regularly see posts from the R.C.M.P., who I don't follow. The posts are mostly from jurisdictions in other parts of the country, rarely local.

On a related note, many of these posts say that the R.C.M.P. issued a warrant for someone.

But in Canada, police don't issue warrants. They apply for them. And according to the Criminal Code, a neutral decision maker (a judge or a justice) determines whether a warrant is appropriately issued.

Put another way, in Canada, only a court can issue a warrant.

So these posts are not only news, they are "fake news".

Our next Full Spectrum Indigenous Community Birth Worker training begins on February 26, 2025, and runs for 20 weeks.

Join us for an information session on Wednesday, February 12, at 6 PM at our Whalley office: 10095 Whalley Blvd, Surrey.

This training is created for Indigenous people who want to support birthing families in their communities as full-spectrum birth workers (a.k.a. doulas). We will be learning and practicing on the unceded and ancestral lands of the Katzie, Kwantlen, and Semiahmoo Peoples.

Non-Indigenous applicants will be considered through an interview process to assess cultural safety and competency.

The training is fully funded for Indigenous participants. Tiered registration fees are available for other community members.

Contact [email protected] for more information.

Dear Criminal Justice System:
Let's celebrate International Women's Day by learning the proper names for anatomy!
The "va**na" is an inside body part. Not an outside body part.
Please honour women by at least learning the difference?
Thank you!
