🚨 Important Citizenship Update for Canadians by Descent 🇨🇦

Imagine receiving your Canadian Citizenship Certificate… only to be asked by the government to return it for review.

Recent reports show that some citizenship applications approved under Canada’s expanded Citizenship by Descent rules are now being re-examined by the government.

Why is this happening? 👇
❗ Documents were not submitted from the original source authority
❗ Missing proof when official records could not be obtained
❗ Gaps in proving an unbroken family lineage to a Canadian citizen

This is a reminder that citizenship applications are not just about eligibility — documentation and evidence matter just as much.

If you or your family are applying for Proof of Citizenship, Citizenship by Descent, or have received a review request from IRCC, proper guidance can make a significant difference.

📩 Don’t take chances with incomplete documentation.

❤️ Want to Bring Your Spouse to Canada? Here’s What You Need to Know. 🇨🇦

Family reunification is one of the most important parts of Canadian immigration — but many couples underestimate how detailed a Spousal Sponsorship application can be.

A strong application is not just about filling forms. Immigration officers carefully review whether the relationship is genuine and legally valid.

Here are some common reasons applications get delayed or refused:

❌ Insufficient relationship proof
❌ Missing supporting documents
❌ Inconsistencies in relationship history
❌ Weak explanation of marriage or common-law relationship
❌ Incomplete forms or incorrect information

Whether you are sponsoring your husband, wife, common-law partner, or partner living overseas, proper preparation makes all the difference.

At You Deserve Immigration, we help couples prepare strong, well-documented applications with the goal of avoiding unnecessary delays.

📩 If you’re planning to sponsor your spouse and want professional guidance, feel free to reach out.

Here is how you can spot them!

Feel
Genuine bills feel smooth, and have a unique texture. They’re made from a single piece of polymer with some transparent spots. The portrait, the large number, and the words “Bank of Canada” should feel raised to the touch. The word “Canada” in or around the large transparent window should also feel slightly raised.
Look
The metallic portrait in the large transparent window should match the large portrait on the front of the note. The numbers in and around the large transparent window should also match the value of the note.
Specifically for the $10 note, look at the metallic images and symbols in and around the large transparent window. They should be sharp and defined.
Tilt
When you tilt the top of the note toward you, there should be colour changes in the metallic portrait and other holographic features. This should occur on the front and back.
Flip
Flip the note over. The metallic portrait in the transparent window should match the large portrait on the front of the note.
Specifically for the $10 note, assure that metallic elements on the front of the note are repeated in the same colours and detail on the other side.

Alberta has intensified its immigration strategy with four AAIP draws between May 1 and May 13, 2026, issuing a total of 1,051 invitations to apply (ITAs) across key priority streams

The draws focused on healthcare professionals, tech talent, and rural community candidates, reinforcing Alberta’s sector-based immigration approach.

✔️ Alberta Opportunity Stream: 832 invitations (cut-off score: 54)
✔️ Tech Pathway (Express Entry): 146 invitations (cut-off: 57)
✔️ Healthcare Pathway: 61 invitations (cut-off: 57)
✔️ Rural Renewal Stream: 12 invitations (cut-off: 50)

📊 So far in 2026, Alberta has conducted 36 draws, inviting over 6,269 candidates under AAIP. The province still has more than 4,200 nomination spots remaining out of 6,403 allocations.

With over 40,000 EOIs in the pool, competition remains intense, especially in the Alberta Opportunity Stream, which continues to dominate selections.

💡 Alberta’s strategy clearly prioritizes workforce shortages in healthcare, technology, and rural development making targeted profiles more important than ever.

Canada has announced urgent temporary immigration and border control measures in response to rising Ebola risks in parts of Africa. Effective May 27 at 23:59 EDT, immigration documents including visas, eTAs, and permanent resident visas for individuals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan will be suspended for 90 days.

In addition, starting May 30, travelers who have been in these regions within the last 21 days will be required to undergo a mandatory 21-day quarantine under the Quarantine Act. Symptomatic individuals will be directed to hospitals for immediate assessment, while asymptomatic travelers without safe quarantine arrangements will be accommodated by authorities.

Officials emphasized that there are currently no Ebola cases in Canada or North America, and the risk to Canadians remains low. However, the government is taking a precautionary stance due to the severity of the outbreak and global travel considerations ahead of major international events.

Authorities confirmed that individuals already in Canada are not affected by the new restrictions but will continue to be monitored under existing public health protocols.
