A strong local economy depends on businesses being able to attract and retain the people they need. When workers cannot find housing they can afford within or near the community, that becomes an economic competitiveness issue.

For Question 5 of Burlington Business Votes, we asked Burlington’s mayoral candidates:

Affordable housing is critical to Burlington’s ability to attract and retain the workforce that local businesses depend on. What is your assessment of Burlington’s current affordable housing needs, and how would your platform improve the availability of affordable housing?

As demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow, municipalities are being asked to consider how data centres fit within employment areas, infrastructure capacity and long-term economic development strategies.

For Question 4 of Burlington Business Votes, we asked Burlington’s mayoral candidates:

If a proposed data centre met all planning and zoning requirements within an employment area, would you support its approval?
