I am pleased to announce that I have been approved as a panel member in the Ontario Family Legal Aid Department since May 31st 2023.
Legal Aid Ontario has become a vital part of a strong justice system, providing high-quality and affordable legal services in: family law and many other legal fields.
My role as a Counsel would depend on clients' needs that may include:
Providing representation in the Ontario Court of Justice (OCJ) and Superior Court of Justice ( SCJ) at first appearances, conferences, motions, negotiations, Family Responsibility Office (FRO) matters, Children’s Aid Societies matters and trials.
Representation at procedural and non-complex motions.
Attendance and representation at conferences in matters dealing with issues of custody, access, support, child protection, support enforcement and other family law matters.
To receive such affordable services the eligible candidate need to obtain a legal aid certificate from Legal Aid Ontario . When candidates apply for such services, they will undergo a financial eligibility test. This test allows LAO to determine whether a client qualifies for the services. The Financial eligibility for an individual will be based on three components: the family unit, the income of the family unit, and the assets of the family unit.
This is a wonderful opportunity for me to serve people in need of legal services at an affordable fee structure covered by Legal Aid Ontario.
