Canada Boosts CRS Points for High-Wage Occupations

Effective November 3, 2026

Up to 100 CRS points for qualifying high-wage job offers

Up to 70 CRS points for eligible Canadian work experience

LMIA no longer required for qualifying job offers under the announced changes

186 occupations included across three wage thresholds

Important: Express Entry invitations will be paused temporarily while CRS scores are recalculated.

Eligibility and points depend on IRCC requirements.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued more invitations to apply (ITA) through the Express Entry system.

The immigration department issued 2,500 ITAs in a draw for Canadian Experience Class candidates.

To be considered in this draw, candidates needed to have:

A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 519; and

Created an Express Entry candidate profile before 7:00:47 p.m., Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on September 21, 2026.

🇨🇦 RCIP Update: Second 2026 Intake Opens October 13

The Northeast BC – Peace Liard region has received 25 additional allocations for 2026 under the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP). The second intake is open exclusively to designated employers who have not received a recommendation in 2026.

Key Dates

📅 Opens: October 13, 2026, at 12:00 noon

⏳ Closes: October 20, 2026, at 12:00 noon

🎯 Additional allocations: 25

Important Points

Only eligible designated employers can apply.

Applications must be submitted through the official SimpleSurvey portal within the intake period.

Employers can apply under priority NOC codes or request discretionary consideration in exceptional cases.

Candidates from the April intake can be resubmitted with a complete, updated application.

Candidates on visitor status are not being accepted.

Maintained-status candidates must have a legitimate application to extend their status.

📌 Important: Late applications and documents submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Employers should ensure that all forms are signed, dated, and supported by complete documentation.

🇨🇦 CANADA REFUGEE CLAIM PROCESS UPDATE

New Rules Take Effect November 3, 2026

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced changes to the online refugee claim process as part of Canada’s broader asylum system reforms under Bill C-12 — Strengthening Canada’s Immigration System and Borders Act.

🔹 November 2 Deadline: Claimants who want their applications processed under the existing system should submit their claims through the IRCC Portal by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on November 2, 2026.

🔹 New Requirements: Changes to online refugee claim submissions will take effect on November 3, 2026.

🔹 Unfinished Applications: Individuals who have started but not submitted their applications should review the new requirements and applicable deadlines carefully.

🔹 Existing Claims: Claims submitted before the deadline will generally not require the newly introduced information unless IRCC specifically requests it.

🔹 CBSA Claims: Special rules may apply to claims initiated through the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

📌 Important: Refugee claimants should review the applicable IRCC instructions and seek qualified immigration legal advice to understand how the changes affect their individual cases.
