The earliest photo of 232 Front St. dates back to 1885!
I went back to the Belleville Archives to look for more photos.
Here are the (photo) bread crumbs that led me to 1885....

1978: taken July 1, 1978 during the 1978 Belleville Centennial Parade. First pic of the 'Maze Mall'.
1978: Encore Mart: the archive says this was taken in August 1978 but I don't think it could have been because the parade picture clearly shows the Maze Mall facade.
1940: this parade photo shows 232 as The Metropolitan with Clarke's on the second floor. Notice White's Hardware Store is with the CIL Paints sign.
1948: on the right, you can see the CIL sign for White's Hardware and a glimpse of the Metropolitan to the right of it. Notice the Lattimer Drugs building to the left of the CIL sign - notice the windows and brick work around their arched windows.
1930: notice the same building (Lattimer) on the left and which means 232 Front is to the right of the DRUGS Soda sign - the arched windows and air vents are clearly distinguishable.
1885: the Lattimer building can be distinguished on the left, and 232 Front would be the second one next.

I was able to dig up a few more photos of our building:
- as a Metropolitan store with Clarke's Studio on the second floor
- as Encore Mart
- neighbour to Zellers - on the left you can see the carriage way that goes through our building.
