Over the last few years, social media has advanced to the point where it’s a viable tool to use to stay in touch with your children after a divorce. Let’s take a look at how you can do this:

Select a social network to use to communicate with your children
Be present in your children’s life and communicate with them about their day-to-day activities

Child custody battles can often escalate quickly if they are not handled properly or approached carefully. If you want to prove to the court that you can be the best parent possible, working together with your ex is a great place to start! Oftentimes, a parent can fail to receive child custody because they are unable to work with their ex.
All-in-all, the most crucial thing to remember when going to court for a child custody or parenting order dispute is that it does not matter if what is said is true or not. What matters is if the court believes it is true.

The question is whether or not you should send your kids to school or homeschool them. In the end, you need to make a decision that will best suit your children's needs. Whether that is sending them to school or homeschooling them is a common decision that you and your spouse need to agree on. One thing we can recommend in order to come to a mutual decision is to attend mediation or use a collaborative approach to discuss the issue. This way a professional can mitigate any problems that arise and will help you through the overall process.

Who gets custody of the children - the mother or the father? There is a myth that fathers never get custody. This myth is based on the historic fact that most children traditionally were raised by mothers and that fathers were the breadwinners. As a result, in those days, it made sense that the courts assumed it was in the best interests of the children to be primarily in the care of the mother.
Today is a new day, and life is a little different as we all know. Now, many families have two breadwinners and two caregivers; mom and dad share in both responsibilities. As a result, the courts in Ontario are more inclined to determine that an equal time-sharing regime makes sense for families in which both parents are equally involved in child care.
