We’re proposing new measures to make our immigration and asylum systems stronger, more flexible, and responsive. It’s about protecting system integrity and building a safer, more resilient Canada.

The Strong Borders Act would:
• Protect the integrity of the asylum system by introducing new ineligibility rules
• Improve how asylum claims are received, processed, and decided
• Strengthen authorities to cancel, suspend or change immigration documents, and to cancel, suspend or stop accepting new applications
• Improve how we share client information with federal, provincial and territorial partners

🔈 IRCC has introduced a new public policy allowing certain work permit holders to change employers faster with an interim work authorization.

▶ This means eligible workers no longer have to wait weeks or months for approval before beginning work with a new employer, helping them avoid employment gaps and financial instability.
