When considering the registration of a new company or relocation of your existing company to Bulgaria note that most Bulgarian companies are registered as private limited liability companies, either sole-owned (EOOD) or with multiple shareholders (OOD), or joint-stock companies – either sole-owned (EAD) or with multiple shareholders (AD). Each of these types of companies is a separate legal entity and shareholders are not liable for the company’s debts beyond the amount of share capital they have contributed. According to the Bulgarian Trade Act, any person (foreign or local) above the age of 18 can register a Bulgarian company.
