What does a week at DCPeloton 2027 look like?

From 29 March to 5 April 2027, we’re bringing the international IP community back to Flanders for the third edition of DCPeloton, during the “Holy Week” of Belgian cycling.

On the bike, you’ll ride the Roubaix Ride, a Social Ride with Tom Boonen and Johan Museeuw, an easy closing ride, and We Ride Flanders if you’d like.

Off the bike, you’ll watch Dwars door Vlaanderen live, visit Ghent, and spend a VIP day on the Oude Kwaremont at the Tour of Flanders.

Seven nights at Auberge du Pêcheur, all meals and tastings, your DCPeloton kit, mechanic support and transfers during the week are all included. You only need to bring your legs, All you need to bring is your legs, a good spirit and, if you like, your own bike.

Riders of every level are welcome. If you can’t take the full week off, we’ll build a programme around your schedule.

We’re hiring a Patent Paralegal!

Are you organised, detail-oriented and interested in working in the world of intellectual property? We’re looking for a Patent Paralegal to join our team at De Clercq & Partners.

In this role, you’ll support patent procedures in Belgium and abroad, coordinate patent filings, manage important deadlines and communicate with clients, foreign agents and patent offices such as the European Patent Office.

We’re looking for someone with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, strong communication skills in Dutch and English, and a proactive and precise way of working. Previous experience as a patent paralegal is a plus but not required.

Yesterday, we traded the office for the wild! 🐘🌿

Our whole team headed to Pairi Daiza for a teambuilding day organised by our newest partners, Tom, David and Kris.

The morning was filled with fun photo challenges that took us all around the park, followed by a cosy lunch together at Mökki. In the afternoon, everyone was free to explore the beautiful worlds of Pairi Daiza at their own pace.

G 1/25: A significant shift in EPO practice on description amendments

The Enlarged Board of Appeal has issued its long-awaited decision G 1/25, clarifying when patent descriptions and drawings must be adapted following claim amendments.

The key takeaway? There is no general requirement under the EPC to adapt the description every time claims are amended. Adaptation is required only where an inconsistency results in non-compliance with an EPC requirement.

The decision moves away from a purely formal approach and could significantly impact examination, opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO.

We are pleased to welcome Mathijs van Noort to De Clercq & Partners as a Patent Adviser / Trainee European Patent Attorney.

With his background in mathematics, engineering, computer science and AI, he will strengthen our Engineering, Software & AI team and contribute his expertise in areas including AI, software, IoT, medical devices, computer-implemented inventions, and various practical applications using software & AI.

You may already have some experience in trademark and design law, or you may be a recent law graduate keen to develop in IP. Either way, we’d be happy to hear from you. You’ll get plenty of hands-on training and support, while working on a wide variety of trademark, design and other IP matters for Belgian and international clients.
