🎮 GAME ON. RIGHTS ON.
When you buy coins, gems or other in-game virtual currencies, you should know how much you are spending. And games should not use design or settings that put consumers, especially vulnerable ones, at risk.
EU consumer authorities are stepping up action in the videogames sector, looking at practices including:
🪙 in-game virtual currencies that may be unclear or misleading
⏳ Aggressive design practices that increase the risk of excessive spending
👧 Direct pressure on children to purchase
ℹ️ unclear information before making a purchase
🔒 gaming accounts being blocked without proper justification
In 2026, the Consumer Protection Cooperation Network has launched 11 coordinated actions concerning videogame companies, coordinated by the European Commission.
Your rights don’t disappear when you enter a virtual world. 🎮🇪🇺
