9-10 July 2024 – Two-day conference on "Jurisdiction, Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters in the EU: Emerging Challenges" successfully took place in Stockholm in the field of the EU funded e-FILIT project!

Participants engaged in rich discussions and insightful presentations on crucial topics including:

FILIT hold today his 3rd Consortium meeting to prepare for the last events being an interprofessional conference in Lisbon on October 13 followed by a back-to-back training on October 14 as well as the closing conference which will be held on December 12 in Brussels! Please save the dates now. The program for the international conference in Lisbon will be available by the end of July.

Le 9 juin, l’ European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) a organisé dans le cadre du projet européen FILIT un atelier qui consistait en un tribunal fictif où les participants ont été appelés à traiter des questions relatives à l'exécution judiciaire de la responsabilité parentale en résolvant une question préjudicielle émanant d'une juridiction nationale.

On 9 June, the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) organized a workshop in the frame of the European FILIT project, which consisted of a mock court where participants were asked to deal with issues related to the judicial enforcement of parental responsibility by solving a preliminary question from a national court.

FILIT aims to contribute to the uniform application of EU law while building mutual trust between legal practitioners in cross-border proceedings.

These goals were projected to meet the objectives of the 2021-2024 European judicial training strategy. A strategy addressed, amongst other professions, to bailiffs and lawyers.

Against this background, the conference seeks to give the opportunity to bailiffs and lawyers to keep abreast with the evolutions of EU family law and exchange best practices while doing so.

Concretely, a panel of experts in EU family law has analyzed in Rome this 8th of June the legislation and case law about parental judgment enforcement in a cross-border context. EU law identifies which court has jurisdiction and ensures that the judgment will be recognized and enforced in the other Member States.

Regulation 2201/2003 known as Brussels IIa (IIbis) has laid down the rules concerning jurisdiction, recognition, and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial and parental responsibility matters.

Accordingly, a first roundtable has addressed the accumulated experience about the application of the Brussels IIa Regulation.

The Brussels IIa Regulation has been recast in 2019. The Regulation (EU) 2019/1111 of 25 June 2019 will become applicable on the 1st of August 2022. The second Roundtable has therefore focused on the novelties introduced with the recast of the Brussels IIa Regulation.

The roundtables were followed by a practice driven presentation on the regulation on maintenance obligation 4/2009.

Lors de cette réunion, où tous les partenaires du projet étaient présents, nous avons fixé les dates des prochaines formations (8 et 9 juin à Rome et 13 et 14 octobre à Lisbonne). Nous avons également fixé la date de la conférence de clôture qui se déroulera le 12 décembre prochain. Nous vous proposons dors et déjà de bloquer ces dates dans votre agenda.

FILIT had today it’s second Consortium Meeting. During this meeting, where all the partners of the project were present, we fixed the dates of the next training courses (8 and 9 June in Rome and 13 and 14 October in Lisbon). We also set the date for the closing conference which will take place on 12 December. We suggest that you already block these dates in your agenda.

Dans le cadre du projet FILIT, financé par le programme justice de l’Union Européenne, l’European Bailiffs'​ Foundation , la EFB, l’UEHJ (UIHJ - Union Internationale des Huissiers de Justice) et l’European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) ont proposé ce 17 février 2022 une formation visant à acquérir des connaissances sur la refonte des règlements européens « obtention des preuves » et « notification ». Cette formation était destinée à la fois aux huissiers et aux avocats, permettant ainsi des échanges sur les pratiques professionnelles entre ces deux professions.

Within the framework of the FILIT project, financed by the justice program of the European Union, the European Bailiffs'​ Foundation , the EFB, the UEHJ (UIHJ - Union Internationale des Huissiers de Justice) and the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) proposed on February 17, 2022 a training course aiming at acquiring knowledge on the recast of the European regulations "taking of evidence" and "notification". This training was intended for both bailiffs and lawyers, thus allowing exchanges on the professional practices between these two professions.
