A warm welcome to Margot Horowitz, who has joined our Brussels office as an associate in our Intellectual Property Group.

Margot advises clients on the full spectrum of IP matters, including patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, and trade secrets, across both contentious and non-contentious work.

When she is not navigating complex IP matters, you will find Margot behind a piano, a camera lens, on a Pilates mat, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

In honor of International Women’s Day, our Brussels Women’s Leadership Initiative Committee invited colleagues to come together for a small moment of giving back. 🫶

We assembled care packages for women staying at two Brussels shelters: Open Deur vzw/Porte-Ouverte asbl and Centre de Prévention des Violences Conjugales et Familiales. Both organizations provide essential support and safe accommodation to women facing difficult circumstances.

A small gesture, but one that reflects the spirit of the day: taking a moment to support and uplift women in our community.

From October to December, Kemal Tepe joined our Brussels office for a three-month internship with our Competition team. ⚖️

During this period, he worked on a range of competition law matters, with a particular focus on State aid and abuse of dominance, as well as mergers and cartels. Kemal also prepared and delivered presentations on current EU and Belgian competition law topics, contributing to our internal know-how discussions.

Kemal was always eager to help, took the initiative to familiarize himself with new topics, and showed engagement with the firm more broadly, including both on and off the field as part of Crowell’s football team. ⚽

Clara Comninos joined our Brussels office for a two-month internship, supporting our IP & Tech and Privacy practice. ⚖️
During her time with us, Clara worked on a diverse range of matters, including personal data and privacy law, trademark law, neighbouring rights, and cybersecurity. She also conducted research on litigation topics such as limitation periods and suspension of proceedings, prepared a client alert on a recent trademark case, and drafted a summary of the new Digital Omnibus Regulation Proposal. Along the way, she gained hands-on experience with cross-border matters and practical case handling. 📄🌍

Clara was diligent and capable in her research, pleasant to work with, and demonstrated a strong interest in IP law.
