ABL Congress in Vienna.

Miles heads to Vienna to connect with international legal partners.

Miles will attend the 50th Conference of the Alliance of Business Lawyers (ABL) which will take place in Vienna from the 27th of May until the 30th of May.
Bart Cools, Roel Anciaux and Michael Tanghe will represent our firm at this event which will again provide multiple opportunities to liaise with the other member firms and expand our network.

Advocacy of the Future: Development Vision and Challenges, organized by the ChoA.

Alex Tallon represented the CCBE at a leading international legal event in Erevan.

On 25 and 26 April 2026, Alex Tallon, Vice-President of the CCBE, participated in the annual international legal conference ‘Advocacy of the Future’: Development Vision and Challenges, followed by the 2nd Law Firm Expo.
The event took place in Yerevan, Armenia, and was organized by the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia (ChoA).

Miles runs for l'Ilot. 🏃

Once again this year, Miles, represented by Mr Tallon and Mr Tock, will be taking part in the Brussels 20 km run in support of L’Ilôt.

For over 60 years, L’Ilôt has been working in Brussels to provide vital support to people experiencing homelessness.

Amicable Settlement Chambers.

Helena De Backer contributed her expertise to a professional training program for future members of the Amicable Settlement Chambers.

On 24 and 25 March 2026, Helena De Backer once again took part in a high-level training program organized by the Judicial Training Institute in Brussels.

The program was designed for judges interested in serving within a Chamber for Amicable Settlement (KMS/CRA).

This forward looking initiative plays a key role in advancing alternative dispute resolution methods.

Judges today do more than apply the law they act as facilitators of dialogue, assisting parties in reaching an amicable agreement within the KMS/CRA, referring them to mediation when appropriate, and guiding them toward the most effective path to resolving their disputes.

Miles Legal Looks Ahead.

Alex Tallon on Ethics and Artificial Intelligence in the Legal Profession.

The AEA-EAL Deontology Committee successfully organized the online webinar “Lawyers, Deontology and AI: Can they work together?’ on19 March 2026.

During the session, leading legal professionals discussed the evolving relationship between legal ethics and artificial intelligence, with particular focus on responsibility, liability, and ethical safeguards in modern legal practice.

The webinar was opened by Mr. David Asatiani, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of addressing the ethical implications of AI in the legal profession.

The programme featured contributions from leading experts, including Mr Alex Tallon, who addressed essential ethical principles such as fairness and transparency in the use of AI within the legal profession, Mr. Nielson Sanchez-Stewart on the applicability of deontological principles to AI, Mr. Jean-Louis Collart on lawyers’ liability when using AI systems and Mr. Iain G. Mitchell KC on the risks and opportunities of AI in court submissions.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment.

On 1 February 2026, Hayarpi Mghdesyan joined the Miles Legal team.

Hayarpi Mghdesyan is a member of the Brussels Bar and will bring valuable expertise to Miles, particularly in liability and insurance law, construction law and tenancy law.

🧑‍⚖️ Lawyers and money laundering

Miles organised an internal training session on lawyers' obligations in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

On this occasion, Luc Godin reminded the firm's members of the main obligations of lawyers in terms of risk analysis, client identification, transaction monitoring and risk vigilance.

The training session also gave Miles Legal lawyers the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the operation of the IT application developed by the firm for this purpose, which was awarded a prize by the International Union of Lawyers at the end of 2024.
