~Mothers: The Silent Strength Behind Bangladesh & Me~
This Mother's Day, May 10, 2026, Bangladesh is seeing an important change. For the first time, the government has started recognising the unpaid care and household work done by mothers and women across the country. It sends a simple but important message: the love, care, and labour of mothers matter not only inside the home, but also in the progress of the nation.
According to the Constitution of Bangladesh, women and mothers are protected through important rights. Article 27 says everyone is equal before the law. Article 28 protects women from discrimination and allows special protections for women and children. Article 29 ensures equal opportunity in public jobs and services.
From the Liberation War to today's digital Bangladesh, mothers have played a powerful role in shaping the country. They have sacrificed, supported, and strengthened generations, often without recognition.
On this Mother's Day, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my own mother, whose love and sacrifices shaped who I am today. I also want to honour my aunts, who became mother figures through their endless care, wisdom, and guidance, and my sisters, who lovingly help raise and care for my son with so much warmth and support. To my friends whose strength, kindness, and daily sacrifices inspire me constantly, thank you for reminding me every day that EVERY mother matters.
To every mother, by birth, by care, by sacrifice, or by love - thank you for shaping lives, families, and nations in ways words can never fully describe.
