আমার প্রায় মনে হয় সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যান–এ একটা প্রকাশ্য ফাঁসির মঞ্চ থাকা দরকার।অথবা পুরোনো দিনের গিলোটিন।বিকেলের দিকে মানুষ সেখানে হাঁটতে যাবে। বাদাম খাবে। প্রেমিক-প্রেমিকা বসে গল্প করবে। তারপর হঠাৎ মাইকে ঘোষণা হবে—“আজ একজন শিশু ধর্ষকের মৃত্যু দণ্ড কার্যকর করা হবে।”

মানুষ থেমে যাবে।

শিশুরা বাবার হাত শক্ত করে ধরবে। কিছু মানুষ চোখ ফিরিয়ে নেবে। কিছু মানুষ তাকিয়ে থাকবে।

আর অপরাধীরা?

তাদের বুকের ভেতর প্রথমবারের মতো ঠাণ্ডা ভয় নামবে।

আজ পর্যন্ত কয়জন ধর্ষকের ফাঁসির খবর আমরা জানি? খুব কম। এত কম যে অপরাধীরা মাঝে মাঝে আইনের চেয়ে নিজেদের ভাগ্যের ওপর বেশি ভরসা করে। তারা ভাবে—“দেখা যাবে। ডেথ রেফারেন্সের শুনানী চলছে,চলুক..... বছরের পর বছর...."

মানুষ আসলে রহস্যময় না, মানুষ খুব সহজ। সুযোগ পেলে সে ভালো হয়, সুযোগ পেলে খারাপ হয়। সমাজের কাজ হচ্ছে খারাপ হওয়ার সুযোগটা কঠিন করে দেওয়া।

রামিসার জন্য আমার খুব মন খারাপ হয়। অদ্ভুত ধরনের মন খারাপ। যে মন খারাপের কোনো চিকিৎসা নেই। শুধু রাত বাড়ে। শহর চুপচাপ হয়ে যায়। চোখের কোন থেকে কয় এক ফোটা অশ্রু হয়তো গড়িয়ে পড়ে।ব্যাস এইটুকুই.... ভ্যাগিস এখন ইউনুস সরকার নাই।তাহলে জাতীয় ইলেকশনই হতো এই সমস্যার একমাত্র সমাধান.....
