Myth #4: “Once I make my Will, that’s it.”

Life changes — and your Will should too.

Marriage, separation, welcoming children, buying property, starting a business, or even changes in your relationships can all impact whether your Will still reflects your wishes.

A Will isn’t a “set and forget” document. Reviewing it every few years, or after major life events, can help ensure your loved ones are protected and avoid unnecessary stress, delays and costs down the track.

If it’s been a while since you last looked at your Will, now might be the perfect time for a review.

“My family knows what I want, so I don’t need a Will.”

It’s one of the most common misconceptions we hear.

The reality? Conversations around the kitchen table don’t carry legal weight. Without a valid Will, your estate is distributed according to the law—not necessarily your wishes.

A professionally prepared Will gives your loved ones certainty, reduces the risk of disputes, and helps ensure your wishes are followed when it matters most.

📞 If you’ve been putting it off, now is the perfect time to get it sorted.

Many people assume that if they pass away without a Will, everything automatically goes to their partner. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

In NSW, if you don’t have a valid Will, your estate is distributed according to intestacy laws—not necessarily according to your wishes.

A professionally prepared Will gives you peace of mind, protects your loved ones, and ensures the people you choose are looked after.

If you’ve been putting it off, now is the perfect time to get it sorted.

“I’m too young to need a Will”

It’s one of the most common estate planning myths — and one that can create unnecessary stress and expense for your loved ones.

The reality is that every adult should have a valid Will. Accidents and unexpected illnesses can happen at any age, and having your wishes clearly documented can save your family significant time, cost and uncertainty during what is sure to be an already difficult period.

If you’ve been putting off your estate planning, now is the perfect time to start the conversation.

📜 A step back in time…

This photo shows our building at 25–27 Lynch Street, Young, long before it became home to McCabe Blythe Law. Originally occupied by the Australian Mutual Provident Society, the building has been part of Young’s streetscape for well over a century.

A few things have changed since this photo was taken — the vintage car out the front has been replaced with much newer vehicles, and an extension has since been added where you’ll now find some of our team.

Today we’re proud to work in this historic Lynch Street building alongside other local businesses, continuing a long history of people working, meeting and doing business in the heart of Young.

If these walls could talk, we’re sure they’d have a few stories to tell!
