DOUBLE DEMERITS START AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. ๐
Police officers will be deployed across the state to target speeding and dangerous driving as part of a major traffic operation to be carried out over the June long weekend.
As part of the King's Birthday road safety campaign, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers will be reinforcing the need to slow down when behind the wheel.
NSW Police will have a high visibility presence across the state for "Operation King's Birthday 2026", which will be conducted from 12.01am Friday 5 June 2026 to 11.59pm on Monday 8 June 2026.
The police operation will involve officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command with assistance from general duties and specialist police from all commands and districts in NSW.
Police will be targeting excessive speed, alcohol and drug driving, distractions including mobile phone use, fatigue, restraint and helmet offences.
Double demerits will be in place for speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt and helmet offences.
