Just as I started writing this post I received notification of a new review:

“Professional, helpful, and highly responsive…. They genuinely care about what matters to their clients. Most importantly, they are willing to invest their time and go the extra mile to educate and support the local community. This truly sets them apart from the typical, robotic lawyers who lack a personal touch.”

We are so grateful to receive reviews like this and to our clients who understand that we really do our best to help everyone we can based on their personal stories.

We also appreciate that our clients understand that because we are a small and personal practice, we may not always be able to answer the phone or respond to an email immediately. It’s not because we don’t care - it’s because we do- for you, for other clients, and also for our families and ourselves.

This photo was taken as I was logging in to my work emails at the hospital just after seeing my young son off to theatre for a minor operation.

The last few months have presented personal, and in turn, professional, challenges for both myself and my admin team.

We have realised that in order to keep looking after our clients with the level of love and care that we aim for, we need to take a little time out to replenish ourselves.

We will therefore be closed for most of August and will, at times, be unavailable to reply to calls and emails as promptly as we would usually.

As always, we thank you for your support and understanding and we look forward to finishing off the year with renewed energy and dedication.

Today I presented to staff at Curtin University. I enjoy educating the community about wills and estate planning. There are always lots of questions during these sessions which I’m happy to answer.

I also pose a few questions to the audience during these presentations and the array of answers given is always eye opening. Here is one:

1. What happens if you die without a Will?
a. the government gets everything
b. the Public Trustee decides who gets what depending on the needs of the family members
c. your spouse gets everything
d. none of the above….

Do you know the answer?

Are you caring for a person with disability who may not be able to manage their own affairs in the future? Have you considered putting plans in place to support them long term?

While it can be a difficult topic to think about, there are many valuable resources, services and organisations available to help guide you through the process.

You may wish to join us on 17 June to learn more and connect with supports that may assist you and your family.

Let’s take some gentle steps toward planning for the future, so you can feel confident that your loved ones will have the support they need.

We were so pleased to join Breast Cancer Care WA for the launch of Worthington Way!

Named in honour of Dr Ros Worthington, who founded BCCWA, Worthington Way recognises those who choose to leave a gift in their Will to support this incredible organisation.

BCCWA provides free nursing, counselling, financial, and practical support to people affected by breast cancer - the kind of help that truly makes a difference.

It was inspiring to hear about Dr Worthington's passion and dedication in setting up this invaluable service.

Leaving a gift in your Will to a charity like BCCWA is a beautiful way to create a lasting legacy.

We’re here to make sure the wording in your Will is exactly as it needs to be for you to leave that lasting impact for so many people.

The year is off to a flying start and with school back, we are back to our usual days of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Little James popped into the office briefly on Wednesday to get a taste for 'lawyer life' but will be sticking to his usual play routine for now!

After a very full, very fulfilling year, we are taking a short break. Thank you for your support and we look forward to drafting many more Wills, testamentary trusts, probate applications and more in 2026. Most importantly, we look forward to connecting with people in a meaningful way as this is what feel we do well and what matters in this special area of law. “Mae cariad yn magu cariad.”

Summer is here!

We are busy wrapping up as much as we can here in the office ready for the summer closure.

This year we will be closed from 19 December to 12 January.

As always, if you require urgent assistance please feel free to contact us. We will always do our best to assist at all times and, if we can’t attend to something ourselves, we will be able to refer you to someone who can.
