Women in Law is a phenomenal event hosted by Bond University once a year to celebrate the incredible women hard at work in the legal field. The event is to inspire, encourage and support young women starting out their legal careers. This year’s topic was Lady Justice: Assessing the Work-Life Balance as a Woman. Our Principal Solicitor, Lisa Hughes, sat on the panel with 4 other incredible women as they all spoke about their work-life balance before, during and after COVID-19. Lisa captivated the audience’s attention with her intriguing and unique experience working on both sides of the fence, prosecution and defence, and across 3 different jurisdictions, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. She spoke about how life can sometimes pull you in unimaginable directions and how life changes when you start your own family. Most of all, she reminded the young women starting out their legal careers to always keep an open mind and always be mindful of straightening each other’s crowns when things get tough. What a wonderful event hosted by the Bond Asian Law Students’ Society, thank you!👑

Happy International Women’s Day!❣️ Today, we celebrate all women, in all of their diversities, in every different facet. We embrace intersectionality and differences. We commemorate the long and difficult journey it took to get them where they are, wherever they are. We empower women to be the change that they want to see in the world. We celebrate sisters, aunts, mothers, grandmothers and friends. Most importantly of all, today is a reminder of how incredibly important it is for women to continue to support other women by always straightening each other’s crowns.👑
