Coercive control is now criminalised in Queensland. The newly created offence carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.

What is coercive control?
The new legislation makes it an offence for a person in a domestic relationship:
- to engage in a course of conduct that consists of domestic violence occurring on more than one occasion; and
- the person intends the course of conduct to control or coerce; and
- the conduct would be reasonably likely to cause harm to the other person.
