Can someone be listed as a company director on ASIC records without actually being a director?

A recent Victorian Supreme Court case says yes.

In Re Dream Harvest Pty Ltd (in Liquidation), the Court found that a person registered as a director had never validly consented to the appointment and had never acted in the role.
The case is an important reminder that genuine consent and proper documentation matter.

This newly created role reflects our commitment to adopting AI in a way that is practical, responsible, and aligned with how we work as a firm.

Anna will lead our AI strategy, shaping how we use AI to support and enhance our legal processes.
