McGirr & Associates successfully argues that a mechanic in the middle of chemotherapy was wrongfully arrested by Wagga Wagga police. The lawsuit comes after Mr Dennis was previously acquitted for allegedly issuing incorrect pink slips.

A mechanic who was receiving cancer treatment has been awarded $10,000 in damages for wrongful arrest after police locked him in a paddywagon and kept him in a cell over suspected fraudulent pink slips.

Judge Penny Wass severely criticises DPP Sally Dowling after she lodged a complaint with Chief Judge Sarah Huggett in the midst of a judge alone trial over which Judge Wass was presiding. The timing of the complaint was "highly inappopriate" according to Judge Wass and continues the ongoing war of words between the NSW judiciary and the DPP about s*xual assault cases.

Paul McGirr told the Daily Telegraph that “if there is any complaint about a judge’s conduct during a case you can’t keep it a secret from any parties to the case - including the judge. There has to be an opportunity for the judge to respond and right any potential missteps on the public record, otherwise there is a risk that a person won’t receive a fair trial. Justice not only has to be done, it has to be seen to be done.”

A judge has delivered a seething spray against the state’s embattled top prosecutor after discovering DPP Sally Dowling SC secretly complained to the judge’s boss about the way she was doing her job.
