It was a pleasure to join Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and mayors from across regional NSW at the Country Mayors Association of NSW dinner last night.

The Prime Minister understands local government well, having served as Federal Local Government Minister, and knows the importance of listening to civic leaders.

I spoke about the reforms we’re making to strengthen local government, our $333 million investment in apprentices, trainees and cadets, and the enormous contribution country councils make to their communities.

I was also pleased to convey the respect I have for the way rural and regional councils work through difficult local challenges, often with limited resources, while always looking for ways to protect and improve the quality of life of the communities they serve.

It Good to meet with Joint Organisation Chairs and Executive Officers from across NSW at Parliament House today.

I was pleased to answer questions about the Government’s local government reforms and what they mean for councils and the communities they serve.

It’s always valuable to hear directly from local government representatives across regional NSW.

Tomorrow is Wear It Purple Day. Here’s why I’ll be wearing purple. 💜

Thanks to Paul Roussis from the Fire Brigade Employees' Union - FBEU and the local crew at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 026 Mascot for taking me through the station and talking frankly about the facilities, conditions and what they believe is needed for the future.

Our community relies on these firefighters every day, and we’re grateful for the work they do to keep people safe.

I’ll be raising what I heard with the Minister for Emergency Services.

I’m so sad to hear of the passing of Dolly Parton.

There are some people whose warmth seems to reach well beyond the stage, and Dolly was one of them.

Of course, she was an extraordinary singer and songwriter. But there was something else about her, that wonderful humour, her generosity of spirit, and an ability never to take herself too seriously. She always seemed completely and unmistakably herself.

I’ll leave you with this clip because, to me, it captures the real Dolly Parton, offering some wonderfully Dolly advice about life and looking after yourself, making you laugh as she does it, and then singing those beautiful words: “I hope life treats you kind.”

It’s hard to think of a more fitting farewell.

Vale Dolly Parton. Thank you for the music, the laughter and the joy.

A glimpse at what the future of medicine might look like.

I only had a short time at the NSW MedTech Showcase at the Parliament of NSW recently before I had to head back into the Chamber — but what I saw was remarkable.

NSW companies are working on technologies including portable brain scanning for stroke, responsive spinal-cord stimulation and patient-specific implants made using 3D printing.

Some are already helping patients. Others are still being developed and tested.

The technology is impressive, but what matters most is what it can mean for patients: earlier diagnosis, better treatment and a better quality of life.

It’s extraordinary to see some of this work being developed right here in NSW.

Thanks to Courtney Houssos, the Medical Technology Association of Australia and everyone who brought this work into Parliament.

Great to welcome nine new Probationary Constables to South Sydney Police Area Command today.

They arrive as NSW welcomes its largest Police Academy class in 14 years — 353 new officers — as the Minns Labor Government works to rebuild police numbers and put more officers on the frontline.

Wishing them well as they serve our community.

**𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: 𝟭𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝟮𝟮𝟮.**

Your child has a fever.
Mum or Dad isn’t well.
It’s late, you’re worried, and you’re not sure whether you need to go to hospital.

Call Healthdirect 𝟭𝟴𝟬𝟬 𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝟮𝟮𝟮**.

It’s free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and you’ll speak to a registered nurse who can assess what’s happening and help you work out what care you need.

They can connect you with the right health service — and if you do need emergency care, they’ll tell you that too.

With flu activity increasing across NSW, this is a number worth saving in your phone.

And of course, for a life-threatening emergency, always call **𝟬𝟬𝟬**.
