🚨 MAJOR AUSTRALIAN MIGRATION UPDATES 🇦🇺

The Australian Government has announced a new package of migration policy changes aimed at strengthening visa integrity, addressing temporary visa pathways and supporting priority areas of the skilled migration program.

Here are some of the key announced changes:

🔹 Student Visa Integrity
Measures will target visa hopping and repeated temporary visa transitions.

🔹 Student Visa Dependants
Secondary applicants will be restricted on most Student visas, with exceptions applying to certain applicants and courses.

🔹 Visitor Visas
A No Further Stay condition will be introduced on all Visitor visas, to ensure they are used by genuine visitors rather than as a pathway to extending a stay in Australia.

🔹 Visa Compliance
Compliance measures will be strengthened to ensure people without valid visas leave Australia.

🔹 Skilled Migration Priorities
Ministerial Direction 119 will be updated to support priority processing across sectors including healthcare, construction, education, law enforcement, defence, resources, agriculture, aquaculture and fishing.

🔹 Working Holiday Maker Program
A ballot system will be introduced for years two and three, alongside a regional work requirement. Processing times will also be stabilised at three months.

🔹 Migration Agents
The Government will take action against migration agents who knowingly support visa applications without merit.

🔹 Ministerial Direction 110
Changes will strengthen protections for victims of crime and domestic and family violence and address hate and criminal behaviour.

📌 Important: These changes have begun to be implemented and will be progressively rolled out over the next 12 months. Individual commencement dates, eligibility requirements and transitional arrangements may vary.

Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) — Official Update

The Australian Government has announced the cancellation of the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) (BSB80120) for new international students.

Effective 5 October 2026, no new Confirmation of Enrolments (CoEs) will be issued, and new international students will no longer be permitted to enrol in or commence this course.

What does this mean for students?

🎓 Already commenced the course:
Students who have already commenced their studies may continue and complete the course with their current provider.

📄 Have a CoE but have not commenced:
CoEs for students who have not commenced the course will be cancelled. Students should contact their education provider to discuss their available options.

📚 Planning to enrol:
The Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) will no longer be available for new international student enrolments. Alternative eligible study pathways may be considered based on individual circumstances.

Important: This announcement specifically concerns the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning). It does not automatically mean that student visas have been cancelled. Individual visa circumstances should be assessed separately.

The Australian Government stated that the decision follows evidence of the course being used for purposes including onshore transfers and visa extension, together with high visa refusal and non-completion rates.
