Danielle Captain-Webb, Jack Beetson, La Toya Pinner and Sharif Deen share why increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation in the legal profession matters, and how the Indigenous Solicitors Foundation (ISF) is helping create meaningful pathways into law.

Established by The Law Society of NSW, the ISF helps reduce the financial and practical barriers that can impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons pursuing a career in law.

We welcome applications for non-repayable financial support including:

- Assistance with Practical Legal Training and admission fees, continuing education or accreditation
- Unpaid legal work such as travel and accommodation
- IT equipment, textbooks, legal subscriptions, professional attire for interviews and care for dependents
- Participation in programs and initiatives that increase awareness and cultural safety in the profession or costs associated with being away from or returning to community for cultural obligations.

Each session will explore a different legal segment and feature a panel of experienced professionals who will share their experience, insight and advice for those considering a similar career path.

Submissions for the NSW Young Lawyers 2026 Sir Anthony Mason Constitutional Law Essay Competition are closing soon.

The competition invites law students from across Australia to develop advanced legal writing skills while contributing to contemporary constitutional discourse. The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and have their essay published in LSJ Online.

In 2026, the competition will be held in memory of Sir Anthony Mason AC KBE CBE QC, former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, whose contribution to Australian constitutional law continues to shape the legal profession.
