We are delighted to congratulate our Board Chair, Sharon Cook OAM, who has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the King's Birthday 2026 Honours List.

Reconciliation is not passive. It requires ongoing commitment, shared responsibility and action, including within the justice system.

At the Law and Justice Foundation of NSW, our contribution is through evidence and research that can help support more equitable access to legal assistance services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In 2025 we published the National Legal Assistance Services (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples) indicator, a tool designed to help legal assistance services understand where demand is likely to be greatest and where services need to be properly resourced.

Importantly, this work is about supporting informed service planning in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisations.

This National Reconciliation Week, we acknowledge the leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and community-controlled organisations who continue to drive change, advocate for justice and lead the path toward reconciliation.
