Your place in the visa queue shifted on Friday! ⏰

Ministerial Direction 119 shifted the order in which skilled visa applications are processed.

This means your application may now sit in a different position in the queue - and that can affect when a case officer at Immigration picks it up.

If you’re feeling uncertain about what this means for your timeline, reach out (contact us https://mbls.com.au/contact/). We can walk you through how this update affects your skilled visa, your plans, and your next steps.

Our team is here to support you through every stage of the process.

You won’t get carded again! 📝Australian paper Incoming Passenger Card is being phased out, with digital Australia Travel Declarations rolling out across every international airport and seaport over the next 12 to 18 months.
✈️🛬
For travellers, this means completing their arrival declaration online or through participating airline apps before they fly, then presenting a simple QR code on arrival. Paper cards won’t disappear entirely - they’ll still be available for anyone who needs them - but the digital version will make it easier to update biosecurity questions quickly and respond to emerging risks.
It’s a practical, traveller‑friendly change that reduces paperwork, speeds up arrivals and gives Australia a more adaptable border framework.

ANZAC Day, observed on 25 April, is one of Australia’s most significant national days of reflection.

It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during WWI, and stands as a moment to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have served in all conflicts, past and present.

We now pause to remember their resilience, acknowledge the families who stand beside them, and reflect on the Australian values of mateship, endurance, and quiet bravery that continue to shape our national identity.

A practical shift for Parent visas is coming into effect on 22 April 2026. For the first time, a number of Parent visa subclasses will be available for online lodgement:
• Parent (Migrant) (Class AX)
• Aged Parent (Residence) (Class BP)
• Contributory Parent (Migrant) (Class CA)
• Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) (Class DG)

This is a welcome update. Moving these applications online should mean a more streamlined lodgement process, quicker submission times, and no need to rely on post or courier.

That said, not everything is shifting online.
Applications for:
• Contributory Parent (Temporary) (Class UT)
• Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) (Class UU)
must still be lodged in paper form, via post or courier, using the approved form.

Want to bring your parent to Australia - we're happy to help!

We’re pleased to confirm that Refugee Advice & Casework Service ( ) will be joining our first Law Mentoring Coffee ‘N Chat ☕ session!

A meaningful addition!!

RACS is a non-profit organisation providing free legal assistance to refugees and people seeking asylum in Australia. Their work reflects the practical impact of law where it matters most, supporting individuals navigating complex and often high stakes circumstances.

They have shared their interest in connecting early with students and lawyers who want to make a difference. That aligns closely with what this series is designed to do.

These sessions are intentionally small and conversational. They are an opportunity to engage directly with practitioners, ask questions, and better understand where a legal career can take you.

If you are exploring your next step, or simply looking to stay connected to the broader purpose of legal practice, we encourage you to join us.
