Manasi's journey to Citizenship

From Student Visa to Australian Citizenship

Some client journeys are extra special — and Manasi’s is certainly one of them. ❤️

We first met Manasi in 2017 when she engaged Visacorp for her Student Visa. Her visa was granted that same year, and her journey continued with a Graduate Visa in 2020.

Then came a beautiful new chapter — she fell in love with an Australian gentleman and was granted her Partner Visa in 2024, after spending two years on her temporary Partner Visa.

And in September 2026, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating with Manasi as she became an Australian citizen✨

Manasi has been genuine, kind and incredible from day one. She worked hard throughout her journey, and it has been such a privilege for the Visacorp team to be part of it.

Important Student Visa changes from 2 October 2026.

There have been significant changes to how Student visas can be applied for, including:

• Most further Student visa applications will now need to be lodged offshore.
• 482, 485 and several other temporary visa holders generally cannot apply for a Student visa while in Australia.
• Limited exceptions still apply for certain current Student visa holders.
• Students may now need to complete 12 months of their principal course before changing providers.

Our client was first nominated under the Subclass 482 visa as a Wall and Floor Tiler (ANZSCO 333411) in September 2020 and was granted the visa in May 2021.

After meeting the relevant requirements, our client became eligible to transition to permanent residency through the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream in April 2025.

The Australian Government recently introduced a massive 25% fee hike across almost all major visa categories.

This isn’t just a standard price adjustment. It is a deliberate policy shift designed to manage net migration by increasing the financial stakes. In short, the government is making it more expensive to apply, meaning a single mistake on your application will now cost you thousands.

The Real Cost of “Doing It Yourself
When the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) raises prices, the risk of managing your own application skyrockets. If your visa is refused due to a missing document or a minor misunderstanding of the rules, the DHA does not give refunds. Your money is permanently gone, and you have to start over.

Look at how the base government fees have jumped:

- Partner Visas have surged by over $2,300, now costing $11,710.

- Skilled Independent Visas have increased by over $1,200, pushing past $6,130.

- Temporary Graduate and Student Visas have also seen steep, hundreds-of-dollar climbs.

Keep in mind, these are just the starting fees for a single applicant. Once you add family members, medical checks, and skills assessments, a single application can easily cost upwards of $15,000.

Attempting a “DIY” application to save a bit of money upfront is no longer worth the risk. If your application gets rejected, appealing the decision at the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) will now cost you an additional $3,727 and many years waiting for a hearing date.
