Effective from 31 December 2025, the Department of Home Affairs has ceased immigration operations at the following locations:
- Australian Consulate-General in Dubai
- Australian High Commission in Singapore
- Australian Embassy in Washington DC

These changes apply only to immigration functions at the above locations.
- No impact on visa applicants — all visa applications are lodged online via digital platforms.
- No requirement to attend overseas missions in person to lodge visa applications.
- Visa applications from these regions will continue to be processed through Home Affairs’ global immigration network.

NSW Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491) – Key Update (2025–26)

👉PROGRAM OPENING:
NSW has opened nomination applications for the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) under:
- Pathway 1 – Work in Regional NSW
- Pathway 3 – Regional NSW Graduate
This applies to the 2025–26 skilled migration program year.

👉PATHWAY 1 – Work in Regional NSW
Eligible occupations:
- All occupations eligible for the subclass 491 visa can apply under this pathway.

Employment requirement:
- Applicant must be currently working in their nominated or closely related occupation.
- Must have worked continuously for at least 6 months with one employer.
- Employer must be based in a designated regional area of NSW.

Salary requirement:
- Must be paid at least:
o TSMIT (Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold) or
o CSIT (Core Skills Income Threshold)
o Salary must be met at the time of application.

Salary concession:
- If applying for a TSMIT/CSIT concession:
- The employer must complete the concession form
- The concession must be approved before lodging the Pathway 1 nomination application.

👉PATHWAY 3 – Regional NSW Graduate
Study requirement:
- Must have completed one of the following in regional NSW:
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree (coursework or research)
PhD

Occupation eligibility:
- Only occupations listed on the NSW Regional Skills List are eligible.

Relevance of study:
The completed qualification must be directly related to the nominated or closely related occupation.

Timeframe:
- The qualifying study must have been completed within the last 2 years immediately before applying for NSW nomination.

👉LIMITED NOMINATION PLACES
- NSW has a limited allocation for subclass 491 nominations.
- Investment NSW may close Pathway 1 or Pathway 3 at any time once places are exhausted.
- Early, decision-ready applications are strongly advised.

👉NOMINATION DISCRETION
- NSW nomination is not guaranteed.
- Investment NSW retains full discretion to:
- Refuse applications that do not meet published criteria
- Decline applications not considered in the best interests of NSW
- Close pathways once allocation limits are reached.

Tasmanian Skilled Migration Update – 8 December 2025!

Migration Tasmania has announced minor updates to the Skilled Migration Program and the upcoming Christmas / New Year office closure.

👉Key Highlights:

🟡Office closed 24 Dec 2025 – 2 Jan 2026; ROIs can still be submitted online, but no processing or invitations during this period.

🟡Subclass 491 – Tasmanian Skilled Employment Pathway:
- Orange-Plus attribute points increased from 30 → 35 for 12–18 months relevant employment.
- Orange attribute updated to clarify salary range above minimum wage but below $57k.

🟡Subclass 190 & 491 – Skilled Graduate Pathway:
- Graduate program offers can now be claimed even if the program has started, if received within 12 months.

🟡Subclass 190 – Established Resident Pathway:
- Business owners must show ≥2 years operation, minimum personal income $76,515, and net profit achieved.

🟡Dependants: Must reside in Tasmania (or recently relocated ≥3 months) to be eligible; overseas dependants accepted with proof.

NSW Skilled Migration Program – Important Updates for 2025/26!

Here’s what you need to know:

🟡NSW has announced its skilled visa allocations for the new program year:
190 Visa: 2,100 places
491 Visa: 1,500 places

🟡Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa
- Three invitation rounds already completed.
- Monthly rounds resume from Jan 2026.
- 25% of annual places already used.
- Only occupations on the NSW Skills List will be invited.

🟡Subclass 491 – Regional NSW
- Pathway 1 (Work in Regional NSW) and Pathway 3 (Regional Graduate) open on 19 Jan 2026.
- Applications will be processed in the order received—only valid applications will enter the queue.

🟡A valid application includes:
- Meeting all NSW eligibility criteria
- Valid English test + skills assessment (must remain valid for 5+ days after applying)

🟡Priority (expedited) processing available if:
- Your visa or documents are expiring soon, OR
- You will lose age points within 10 working days.

🟡Pathway Highlights:
- Pathway 1: 6+ months employment in Regional NSW + minimum income threshold.
- Pathway 2: May open from April 2026, depending on demand.
- Pathway 3: Completed Bachelor or higher degree in Regional NSW + eligible occupation.

🟡Christmas & New Year Closure:
- NSW office closes 24 Dec 2025 – 9 Jan 2026.
