Your business might be making automated decisions about customers or employees without you even realising it.

Think about the software you use every day. Your CRM, booking system or recruitment platform might be deciding who gets contacted, approved or shortlisted before anyone on your team gets involved.

From 10 December 2026, new privacy policy disclosure requirements will apply to certain automated decisions that significantly affect people's rights or interests.

If your business uses these systems, it's worth understanding how they work and checking whether your privacy policy needs updating.

A council in Brisbane just banned smart glasses and cameras at its public pools. It won't be the last.

Brisbane City Council (BCC) has become the first council in Australia to ban the non-consensual use of camera devices — including smart glasses — at public pools. Gold Coast is now considering doing the same.

And it doesn't stop at council level. The Greens have flagged a private member's bill to amend the Privacy Act itself, to stop wearable footage being filmed, stored or shared without consent when Parliament next sits.

None of this is law yet. But the direction is clear: rules around cameras and recording devices in public and semi-public spaces are tightening fast, at council, state and federal level, all at the same time.

If your business operates anywhere people gather — pools, gyms, hospitality venues, retail floors, events — this is worth watching closely. Today it's a council bylaw. Tomorrow it could be a Privacy Act obligation with real penalties attached.

We're following this one for our clients. If you run a venue or business in this space and want to know what it actually means for you, get in touch.

Big changes are coming to Australia's privacy laws.

The government has just released draft laws for the next major overhaul of the Privacy Act - the biggest shake-up in over a decade. Businesses have until 18 September 2026 to have their say before it moves forward.

What it could mean for you:
✅ Faster rules on reporting data breaches (72 hours, down from ~30 days)
✅ Stronger protection for sensitive info like biometric data, genetic data and location tracking
✅ Tighter rules on what counts as valid consent - old, bundled consents may not cut it anymore
✅ New rights for people to ask big platforms to delete their data

If your business collects customer data, uses facial recognition, tracks location, or works with AI tools - this affects you.

We'll be breaking down what it means over the coming weeks. Drop us a message if you want to know how it applies to your business. 👇

A lovely night at the Screen Vixens screening of Rebound, co directed and produced by our client Davina Marr and Nosnibert Films.

It was great to celebrate Davina’s work alongside Leoni Marsh from , and to catch up with another one of our wonderful clients, Louise Rosati from .

We love seeing the creative projects our clients bring to life, and getting the chance to support and celebrate them outside the office too.

Congratulations to everyone involved in Rebound 🎬
