Getting some parts rounded up for the suspension work on our ex Mittagong VS 5 litre.

We chose to use original GM front struts with Bilstein inserts and will re-fit the factory FE2 springs.

Urethane bushes will be thrown in the bin and Mackay rubber used in all suspension and bush applications on this build.

This came across the desk from Larry COOK’s time at 30 HWP (Gosford)

Just found these pics in a tucked away box taken by Scientific Branch's Bill Fortier back in 1986 in the VL Commodore days. Shane Morgan was working the recently opened northbound F3 at Somersby in 30/50 so I joined him on my bike, 30/65. Shane was writing someone up when a dark green Commodore lit up the KR11. Stop bat out but away he went. I threw the radar into the car and took off not knowing the callsign of Shane's car so I called 30/65 in pursuit leaving poor old Shane to guard my bike...
I caught up with him at the bottom of Ourimbah Hill and stuck to his tail. He peeled off at the Wyong exit at Cobbs Road and tried to turn west at Wyong Road but hit the median and flipped over. The pics show his skid marks and where I stopped 30/50.
The cavalry was on the way with even the boss SenSgt Ron Smith departing the office at Gosford thinking I was chasing the flea on the bike.
He was charged at Wyong with Armed Robbery, Stolen MV, Speed Dang and a couple of other charges. The rifle was loaded with a loaded magazine. I never noticed it whilst dragging him out by the head through the rear drivers side window.
The location was a gold mine for speeds, getting an estimate after they passed through the cutting heading north then running down the now closed entrance ramp on the northern side of Wyong Road and sliding up their near side for the check. You could fill a book with 20Kmh+ back then at that spot.

You can't see anything for bush these days.

Here’s a couple more of Neil GODDARD at Sutho HWP, this time next to a Lima VS 5 Litre in high visibility markings, circa 1995-6.

Quite a contrast to the simple day glow and blue decals of the VS parked alongside.

You can see the font on the bonnet and lower doors is more in line with today's National Markings.

The Monaro parked in L217’s space was Neils daily drive.

An interesting feature of this car is the black bull bar and centre driving light, fitted at station level.

Geoff mentioned this car also had Air Conditioning.
