Can you still claim compensation if you already had an injury?

Yes.

One of the biggest misconceptions in Queensland personal injury law is that a pre-existing injury automatically stops you from making a compensation claim.

It doesn’t.

If a car accident, workplace incident or public liability accident has aggravated or worsened a condition you already had, you may still be entitled to compensation.

The important distinction is this:

✅ You generally can’t claim for the injury that already existed.
✅ You may be able to claim for the way the new incident made it worse.

Whether it’s an old back injury, knee problem, shoulder injury or even a pre-existing mental health condition, medical evidence is the key to showing what changed.

Representing your state is an incredible honour, and to come away with the win makes the achievement even more special.

This was also Max’s first time wearing the Queensland colours, making the occasion one he’ll never forget.
