๐Ÿ“ฃ Want to know why locals are pi**ed off about Jacksons Hill? This goes back years.

๐Ÿ’ช The ladies from the Sunbury Asylum Alliance and the local community campaigned for the government to buy back the old Vic Uni site. People turned up, put forward ideas and helped shape a masterplan.

The government said the redevelopment would reflect โ€œthe communityโ€™s vision for the cherished site.โ€

Those were their words.

Now three heritage buildings have been sold to Channel Nineโ€™s company for The Block, and I want to know how that outcome reflects what the community fought for.

Iโ€™ve been speaking with the ladies about that fight, their concerns about the buildings and what they hoped this place could become. You can understand the frustration after all these years.

What would you like to see happen to the rest of Jacksons Hill?

Have a blessed arvo. Hoo bloody roo.

A $1 million sale to Channel Nineโ€™s company, exemptions and 105 public submissions. How did Jacksons Hill get to this point?

Iโ€™ve put the timeline together so you can see the order things happened.

The land was declared surplus, the planning controls changed, and the parcel was exempted from the First Right of Refusal process. Then came the sale, The Block announcement and a planning application for six homes across three heritage buildings.

The sale price? $1 million, excluding GST.

105 public submissions were received. What difference did they actually make?

Victorian taxpayers deserve a clear explanation of who made these decisions, why the exemptions were granted and how the communityโ€™s concerns were considered.

Iโ€™m also doing these updates to give a voice to the ladies from the Sunbury Asylum Alliance, whoโ€™ve spent years fighting for this precinct and its future.

Watch the timeline and tell me what you reckon.

Save and share this, and follow along for Part 2 โ€” the localsโ€™ fight to protect Jacksons Hill.

Have a blessed arvo. Hoo bloody roo.

๐Ÿ‹ LOCALS SUPPORTING LOCALS! ๐Ÿ’›

How good is this! Some young entrepreneurs having a crack at running their very own lemonade stand outside Killara Primary School in Sunbury!

It's fantastic to see kids getting out there, having a go, learning about business and earning a few dollars along the way. ๐Ÿ‘

These are the little things that make a great community. Supporting local doesn't just mean supporting established businesses โ€” it means encouraging the next generation to give it a go!

We even chipped in 9kg of caster sugar to help keep the lemonade flowing! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‹

Let's get behind these young legends, Sunbury! If you see kids out there having a go, stop by, say hello and show them some support.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Did you spot the ladies today and get to try the lemonade??

๐Ÿšจ JACKSONS HILL โ€” WHAT HAPPENED TO THE COMMUNITY'S VOICE?

In 2018, the Victorian Government purchased the Jacksons Hill precinct in Sunbury for approximately $20 million, with a vision to preserve its heritage and deliver lasting benefits to the community.

Local residents were consulted, ideas were shared, and the Jacksons Hill Master Plan was developed to guide the site's future.

Fast forward to 2026, and part of this historic precinct has been sold for $1 million excl gst to channel nine.

So what happened to the original vision?

๐Ÿ›๏ธ What became of the community's input into the 2018 Master Plan?

๐Ÿ“‹ What happened to the publicly announced competitive bidding process for the heritage buildings?

๐Ÿ˜๏ธ How does the proposed development align with the future residents were promised?

๐Ÿ’ฐ And importantly, are Victorian taxpayers receiving a fair and reasonable outcome from the sale of public assets?

This isn't about opposing restoration or development. It's about transparency, accountability and respecting the community that helped shape the original plan.

The people of Sunbury deserve answers, and their voices should matter when decisions are made about publicly owned heritage assets.

๐Ÿ‘‡ SUNBURY RESIDENTS โ€” WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Were you involved in the original community consultation? What would you like to see happen at Jacksons Hill?

๐Ÿšจ WILL THE SAME RULES APPLY TO EVERYONE?

The Block is coming to Jacksons Hill in Sunbury, and while it's exciting to see these historic buildings potentially given a new lease on life, there are some important questions that deserve answers.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ The site contains significant heritage buildings.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ A planning permit application has been lodged.

๐Ÿ“ข Public notice and a planning decision are important steps still to be addressed.

Our concern isn't about stopping The Block. It's about ensuring the proper process is followed.

Everyday Victorians, builders and developers are expected to navigate planning requirements. A high-profile television production should be subject to the same scrutiny and transparency.

These are public assets, and the local community deserves a genuine opportunity to have its say.

All we're asking for is due process, fairness and accountability, with an outcome that the community and Victorian taxpayers can support.

๐Ÿ‘‡ What do you think? Should The Block be subject to the same planning processes as everyone else?

๐Ÿ’ฌ Share your thoughts below and follow along as we continue investigating the Jacksons Hill development.

๐Ÿšจ VICTORIANS โ€” YOUR VOICE MATTERS!

https://engage.vic.gov.au/implementing-victorias-mandatory-building-and-pest-inspection-scheme

The Victorian Government is proposing to make building and timber pest inspection reports mandatory for property sellers.

This could be one of the biggest changes to Victoria's property market in years. But will it genuinely protect home buyers?

The Victorian Association of Home Inspectors (VAHI) has been involved in stakeholder consultation, advocating for stronger industry standards, proper inspector training, accountability and consumer protection.

๐Ÿก Now it's your opportunity to have a say.

Whether you're a homeowner, first-home buyer, property investor or industry professional, this proposed policy could affect you.

๐Ÿ“ข Have your say through the Victorian Government's Engage Victoria consultation.

Weโ€™re told thereโ€™s no money to fix the potholesโ€ฆ so how do we know we got a fair deal when public property was sold? ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Dan from The Block raised the restoration argument. Fair enough, I'd love to see these beautiful heritage buildings brought back to life.

But making them beautiful doesnโ€™t answer how the sale price was decided.

What could other heritage builders and developers have offered for Jacksons Hill, with the same restoration requirements? Were they given the chance?

Show us the valuation. Show us how the market was tested. Show us why this deal was in the publicโ€™s best interests.

Itโ€™s public property. Asking those questions shouldnโ€™t be controversial.

๐Ÿ‘‡ Do you think the restoration justifies the deal, or do you want to see the numbers first?

And if something similar is happening in your town, tell us about it. Share this so more people can join the conversation.
