Big changes are coming to property transactions in Australia.

New Anti-Money Laundering laws take effect from 1 July 2026, and conveyancers will officially become reporting entities, required to verify client identities, assess risk and report to AUSTRAC, much like banks already do. For most of our clients, this won't change much day to day.

Many of these checks are things we already do. But you may notice a few additional questions around identification or the source of funds during your transaction. It's all part of keeping the property market safe, transparent and trustworthy for everyone involved.
